Time of Eve (Eve no Jikan) Episodes 1-4

Time of Eve (Eve no Jikan in Japanese) is a story set in the probable future of Japan, when androids are in common use. And by common use, I mean "common" as in like tools that are used to make everyday living easier. However, as much as this concept is stretched in the series, the androids have developed their own consciousness and are able to decide for their own at chosen times. This started some intimate minglings among humans and androids- an act that the ethical committee is trying to put a stop to.

The story focuses on Rikuo, a boy who has lived with androids all his life and thus took them for granted, and how he discovers that Sammy, his home android, has been acting independently. He tracks down her actions to a hidden cafe named Eve no Jikan (thus the title of the series) where a rule is set against discrimination among humans and androids. The rest is about their interactions with the people (humans and androids alike) in Eve no Jikan.

An interesting part of the story involves Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics, which is frequently referred to in the anime. I looked it up online and, much to my disappointment, it's placed under science FICTION.

The anime boasts of superb animation and very realistically-drawn backgrounds and settings. Actually, these were what had pushed me to watch it- with Kuya Mark's encouragement. :-) A drawback of following this series is the long wait for the next episode to come out. Every episode is released every 2 months so this may not be ideal for impatient people. However, I'm guessing that each episode takes so long to make because the producers do not want to compromise the quality of the series' animation. This anime is set to have 6 episodes and with the 4 episodes out now, there are only 2 more to go. An episode is only about 15 minutes long.

Just an extra info, Rikuo is voiced by Jun Fukuyama, one of my most chased-after seiyuus. He is also the seiyuu of Takishima Kei from Special A, Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass, as well as other well-known anime lead characters.

Here are the first four episodes, embedded from Megavideo, Veoh, and Kumby.
Episode 1: Akiko

Episode 2: Sammy

Episode 3: Koji and Rina

Episode 4: Nameless
