DTI TECHIE Training: Internet-Based Marketing (Day 1)

Day 1 of DTI's Project TECHIE (Training Enhancement and Competitiveness in Harnessing Innovative Entrepreneurs) Phase 2 (Promotion and Marketing: Internet-Based Marketing) has now ended. Phase 2 of Project TECHIE will be held for 3 consecutive days (for the first batch), starting today, Feb. 22, until Feb. 24, 2010 at the PhilNITS Office located on the 5th floor of the DTI building, Uyanguren, Davao City.

The term IBM was coined to shorten the training's title and it deals mostly on simple website creation using tools suited for beginners or non-technical people. The first day was mostly introduction of the trainors and the trainees, overview of the topics to be covered during the 3-day training, and some demonstrations of the tools to be used in website creation. More than 25 participants attended and most of them already have experience in terms of website creation so the first day was quite fast-paced.

Below are some of the pictures taken during the seminar:

For the succeeding sessions, hands-on training in website creation will be conducted using Weebly, and Blogging will be introduced.

It is quite an experience to handle a training where your trainees are business owners or managers - and that is just what I had experienced in this training. As one of the trainors, we are expected to interact with and deliver to our trainees and I don't think we have come to a comfortable level yet. However, after this day, we evaluated our performance so that we can point out some areas for improvement. Hopefully the next session will be more organized and lively.
