OFWs: How to Apply for PAG-IBIG Membership in Davao

If you are an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker), or in the process of applying as one, you might want to avail a PAG-IBIG membership. Although it is not required for POEA processing, here is a guide on how to apply for a PAG-IBIG membership as an OFW, based on my experience.

Where to go:
The PAG-IBIG office is located at the ground floor of Pryce Tower in J.P. Laurel Avenue, Bajada, Davao City. It's the building near LandCo.

What to bring:
- Filled-up 2 copies of the MDF (Member Data Form), which you can get at the PAG-IBIG office
- Photocopy of passport, only the page with your picture and other information
- At least Php 200.00 for the minimum monthly fee

What to do:
  1. If you already attended the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) at POEA, you should have already been given 2 copies of the MDF. If not, you can just go the PAG-IBIG office and ask for it. Properly fill up the two copies of the MDF.
  2. At the PAG-IBIG office, get your priority number near the Marketing and Enforcement Division, which is located to the right of the office entrance. Wait for your number to be called.
  3. Once you are called, submit the MDFs and the photocopy of your passport. You will be asked how much you are going to pay and for how many months worth you wanted to pay. The minimum monthly contribution is Php 200.00 and you can just pay this during your first application. You will be given a payment slip.
  4. Proceed now to the cashier to pay your contribution. The cashier is located to the left of the entrance. Present your payment slip and pay the appropriate amount. You will receive an Official Receipt.
  5. Go back to the Marketing Division and get another priority number.
  6. When you are called again, just show the receipt to the counter person so that he/she can copy the receipt number to the MDF you submitted earlier. After this, keep your receipt.

These are all of the steps for completing your OFW PAG-IBIG application. However, you will need to follow-up with PAG-IBIG two weeks after your application to get a printout of your member account information.

NOTE: For your succeeding monthly contributions when you are already out of the country, a family member can pay your monthly PAG-IBIG fees for you.
